I'm trying to get an idea of what the maximum speed my SAN can run. I understand that there are some variables involved here. My real question is, how can I tell that I'm getting the maximum performance out of my SAN with it's current settings and in my current environment.
Are there any specs that give a basic idea of what disk read/write speeds I can expect in an ideal setup using SATA II 7200 RPM 2TB drives in a RAID 6 array with 48 drives? I am able to see in SAN HQ what each disk's current read/write speed is as well as I/O loads, etc. However, I don't know what to compare that with. The speeds I'm experiencing seem very slow. However, SAN HQ shows everything is running good as far as I can tell.
Any suggestions?
