Hi All,
Truth be told I am just guessing from the furious disk activity that a rebuild might be going on.
The data center admins powered off (not regularly though) the storage by just switching off the UPS that the unit is connected to.
So today after one such power off, the network ports on the storage (and the switch) stopped lighting up their LEDs. The storage was unreachable and also unaccessible to the iSCSI target mapped to it.
The LEDs on the back of the 2x controllers were still OK though. Unfortunately it is a remote site and I couldn't get a DB9 cable and it seems they never set up the management port. I tried the integration tools but it didn't discover any uninitialised arrays.
My questions are:
1. Is it likely that a rebuild is going on? Initially only one disk was going crazy but after several hours the others have joined it.
2. Assuming a rebuild is going on, is it the expected behaviour for the storage to become completely inaccessible?
3. Any way to access the storage via the management port?
4. The array has 12x 3TB. I don't know how many of the disks were in use though. Any idea of how long it would take assuming it's going through a rebuild?
Thanks!
